Colonel’s Bicycles is owned by cyclists and run by cyclists. We are into the sport as much as you are or would like to be. As avid road and mountain bike racers, both Colonel “Doug Coyle” and Rick Faulkner have their specialty and preference in cycling. Colonel is a mountain biker, who once — many, many years ago competed on the national level at many NORBA events. Rick on the other hand, cut his teeth in the late 70’s BMX scene and graduated to road racing in the 1980’s. And to this day they still continue to squeeze in as much road and mountain bike riding as they possibly can.

Colonel's Bicycles began in 1994 as a mobile bicycle repair service aptly named, Colonel’s Mobile Bicycle Repair. Operating from a stripped utility-van, Colonel offered complete on-site service and maintenance to both individuals and fleet customers, including the Sundance Square bicycle police officers. Colonel built a loyal customer base while continuing to work as a full-time bicycle mechanic at another bike shop.

As Colonel’s Mobile Bicycle Repair began to grow, Colonel quit his day job and partnered up with Rick, a good friend that he had met in college. They continued to cross paths on the bicycle racing circuit. Since both Colonel and Rick had been working in and managing large bicycle shops for years, it seemed logical to join forces. They began working together out of Colonel’s converted, detached garage. The business grew quickly as they secured more regular business, by referrals and repair contracts with local bicycle police and security agencies.

The guys frequently talked about someday opening a real bike shop. The concept was “a place where people could get professional service and straight answers without getting rushed out the door.” In 1996, they rented a warehouse on the Eastside, where they offered professional service, quality parts and accessories.  This was the jumping off point for what the shop would soon be.

Today, Colonel's Bicycles is Fort Worth’s premier independent bicycle shop. Specializing in all types of cycling from the weekend rider to the local professional, no matter what you ride, we are here to help you ride better and have fun doing it. Colonel’s Bicycles is a nationally recognized bicycle retailer, dedicated to customer service and fair pricing. Our state-of-the-art bike shop is located at 3053 S. University Blvd, across the street from the TCU Campus. Whether you need your current bike serviced or would like to purchase a new one, come by and see us.

The emphasis then as it is now is SERVICE, both mechanical and customer.  At Colonel’s our motto is “Friendly, Professional, Service”. Come on by and let our trained staff help you choose the correct equipment for your needs.
